its the gas... stupid!

Blogging if fun, if you like to write and get your thoughts on paper or go online. Do I care if others read this, not really, but hey if you find this site and read my blog and agree or disagree, well let me know.

This blog is going to be about things that interest me. Right now it is the political season, so I will write my "Why I think Dick Morris is wrong" columns in future articles. Dick Morris is a savvy guy, but he always comes across like the only guy with the crystal ball tucked away in basement of his palace. I don't think he means to come across that way, but he does. He is smart guy, but all smart guys get it wrong.

We in the last round of the political dog fight, problem is that we have two gladiator dogs - pit-bulls, one black and tan male and the other a white female. Both dogs are in a fight to the end. Pit bulls don't give up, and they will kill each other if you let them. The drama that unfolds on TV, sometimes blurs reality to where you begin do see teeth, fangs, claws, and blood. Senators Clinton and Obama are in dog fight that would cause the dog whisperer to back off. Welcome to the Democratic primaries.

Well if you are a republican, don't jump with joy, one battered pit bull will still kill the Arizona hound. Although the old hound is tough, and ruthless when it comes to checking out all the rabbit trails, but it is no match for the battled ready pit bull.

Interesting year for all us. The economy is soft, the dollar weak, gas is the new gold, and inflation will lap the fastest race cars. What is going on? I ask myself - things are not what they appear, are they? What am I missing?

China and India cannot be buying all this oil, that can't be the case though it may matter some. We buy most of our oil from Canada anyway, so why aren't we asking them to produce more? The dollar is weakening, but the cost of buying one gallon of gas has doubled! DOUBLED! It can't just be all about the weakening dollar. Oil companies have the capacity to reduce production to drive cost up, but most conservative talk show radio hosts follow the Rush Limbaugh lead and believe falsely that oil companies have no control of the supply of oil, and that they are simply responding to demands. Yes, the consumer does control the demand, but the producers can limit the supply and drive the price up! It is one way to increase profits and appease the shareholder gods.

So we can't let the oil companies off the hook despite daily reminders of the greatest capitalism at work. I think that"forces of supply and demand" are manipulated by several powers at be. Oil companies, congress, environmentalist, globalist, people that love "green", and think that the U.S. must be stopped from polluting the planet and so on. So is it ideology that causes gas price to rise? Ummm. "Green" is embraced and promoted everywhere but just not in your wallet ;-(

Then there is ANWR in Alaska, listen folks we can raise Caribou in our backyard ranches. They are in no danger of going extinct. So why are we not drilling in ANWR? Environmentalist believe that they should be the only ones using gas for their leisure not the rest of us. They are good at lobbying. That's why ANWR is a treasure box whose political key is lost to us.

So why is gas so high? Here is a theory. The cost of labor is increasing in China and India, so someone wants to find cheap labor somewhere. Why not here? This is an economy that already has the infrastructure in place, America would be a perfect place. Reduce the middle class and you will get reduced labor cost. How do "they" (whoever they are) do this? Clearly listening to Glenn Beck and reading other blogs flames certain theories. One is to inflate the economy with funny money, the second may be to increase the gas price and drive the price of everything up. When you do these, money buys less than it did a year ago. This is inflation! These two things effectively reduces purchasing power, by driving the price of everything up.

The wealthy are endowed with financial power to hedge their wealth so they are protected. However the middle class and below does not possess the same type of financial muscle. Less money in the hands of the middle and lower classes force them to offer their asset - skilled or unskilled labor at a lower cost. Supply and demand at work, but engineered to work this way. It is the purpose of the super rich to accomplish the goal of the super rich -manipulate the system if you can to make more money, become a monopoly with deep tentacles into the back pockets of law makers. Well if you are powerful enough, you can influence law makers to create laws that favor your business ventures. This is what the rich are able to do. Now being rich is everyone's goal, so I am not anti-rich. I am trying to become rich and to better myself. However, I am for all of us to play by the rules. Does Walmart have a right to open a store in small town USA? Absolutely, but Walmart SHOULD NOT GET special tax breaks because they are a big player (hypothetically speaking of course). Middle class Americans - the hard working folks like you and me looses the power to be independent because we loose purchasing power. Although I say this, I still believe that America fosters the greatest environment for creativity and new ideas, thus the greatest country for the next success story.

Coming back to gas. Why are Obama and Clinton not taking on this as a primary issue for their campaigns? Why is McCain silent about this as well? Perhaps they won't be in control as President so why bother, or perhaps they don't know what to do or perhaps they don't really care? Pick one or two or all if you like.

It is time for us to get educated. We need to listen to all sides, we need to read, we need to be better informed. We do this so that we can exercise another American right we have - voting intelligently. I read a lot. I also listen to all kinds of media guys. Glenn Beck is awesome. Love that show. He is one of the few guys that are telling the truth. Bill O'Reilly, well this Irish man is pretty darn good himself, sincere but I agree less with him than I do with Glenn. Then there is Rush Limbaugh, well nothing can describe him adequately except that his talent is on loan from God! There is good news and bad news. The bad news first, no one gets it right all the time (sorry Rush). The good news however is Bill, Glenn and Rush are far more truthful than the rest of the bias propagandist media. Robert Kiyosaki is also alerting us on the dollar crisis. He has written several great books, and I am fan of his. I think these folks are like tiny but bright flash lights in a very dark and large black hole called our economy, where the blind mostly likely will lead the blind. Finally I have danced over so many topics, but I come back to the dog fight: now the candidate that can solve the gas problem be it a "pit bull" or "hound" will find that biggest bone and become top dog. Will Dick Morris get it right? He has 33.3% chance if he ignores the polls and stick with only the stats on picking a winner now, and 50% chance in November. He should be able to pick a winner don't you think?

These are my opinions only, they are based on my understanding of what I read and listen from other media. I cannot verify personally the authentic nature of any fact that I may state, or lack of fact that might have caused me to formulate an opinion that strays away from the truth. I exercise my right as an American to free speech. God bless America. We need it.
